So, back a few years ago, I decided to write down some of the stories about Bonita (the place I grew up and where my dad still lives) that I had never been able to use when I worked for the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center. A few months into that work
, the publisher of my previous book about Bonita contacted me about a new project, and though I was far from ready, I gave myself a deadline for having a proposal to send to them. Today, I am pleased to announce that my new book (no, I am not accustomed to saying that yet) has been published by The History Press. Historic Tales of Bonita recounts 10 different tales about Bonita that go beyond the lemon orchards and dairy farms that the Sweetwater Valley is known for. The book is available at all the regular places
, but this weekend (through September 4th), it is available from the publishers (The History Press) at a 20% discount. If you are so inclined when you are finished, I would love to have you place an online review at whatever location you choose.
For those of you in San Diego, I will be appearing later this month (starting on 9/17) around Bonita at book signings, and I’ll let you know when and where as we get closer.
And lots of thanks to the many people who helped me along the way, but especially to my father, who got me started on ‘this history thing’ when I was a small child, and my husband, who put up with me talking incessantly about Bonita over the last few months.
